Cesta domů - The Homecoming

Although more than 80% of the people in our country would like to die at home, an overwhelming majority of them die in hospitals or other institutions, separated  from their loved ones, frequently in conditions lacking dignity and without adequate quality care.

The hospice assotiation CESTA DOMŮ in Prague (Czech Republic) is trying to change this situation. It offers to those families, who would like to care for their dying member at home, a complete set of services:

• Free Consultation Services in the field of care for the terminally ill and the dying by phone, e-mail or in person 
• Mobile Hospice - Palliative Care provided in the patient's home
• Non-medical Home Care for patients

• Social support to families of dying patients
• Psychologic support to patients and grieving family members
• Bereavement Club
• Volunteer Programmes and Services
• On-line Consultancy
• Specialized Palliative Library
• Don't Close Your Eyes campaign focused on improvement of the End-of-Life care in the Czech Republic

Our mobile Hospice offers the family and close friends of terminally ill patients moral support, as well as medical advice and services of physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologues and other specialists and volunteers. The hospice provides rental services of medical equipment to patients and families and trains caregivers in their use.

Being the first of its kind in the Czech republic, the Cesta domů Hospice is trying to use its experience to inspire and support establishments of similar services in other parts of the country.
