Palliative Care in the Czech Republic

Project 2003-2004

Cesta domů was the initiator of the Project.

"Palliative Care in the Czech Republic" Project sought to radically improve the care provided to the incurable, the dying and their families in the Czech Republic. It aimed at improving the knowledge of both professionals and the general public about modern palliative care and its means and at promoting principles of quality care for the dying throughout the whole health and social care system.

The Association focuses on two complementary areas of activities:

It has founded and operates a home care hospice in Prague, where specific support is provided to families who decided to care for their dying relatives at home;
It endeavours to bring about social and legislative structural changes enabling the Czech Republic to extend quality care for the dying.

The Project of Palliative Care was funded by the Public Health program introduced by the Open Society Fund, Prague. We owe a great deal to their kind support. We thank OSF Prague for all favor, understanding and support, and not only the financial one, which we continue to receive from OSF.
